With temperatures going down to single degrees in some parts of Oman, tourists visiting the Sultanate are getting to enjoy the weather at this time of the year and are finding the climes quite pleasurable.

Oman’s winter tourism season is currently on the move, and with visitors coming to the country to escape the harsh weather back home, hotels in the country are experiencing high occupancy levels, especially in the mountains of Jabal Akdhar, where temperatures are on an average 10 to 15 degrees cooler than they are in Muscat.

Angel Al Araimi, the marketing and communications manager for Alila Jabal Akhdar said, “Right now, we are at about 15 to 16 degrees in the daytime, and at night, the temperature drops to less than nine degrees, and even up to six degrees. Right now, it is really low, and it is a bit icy. For visitors, this means they will be able to enjoy the weather, depending on where they come from. We have to wear jackets at night, but it’s okay during the day.”

Temperatures in Muscat also went down to around 17 degrees at night, presenting a cool weather for tourists, said Frederic Krueger, director of sales and marketing for Kempinski Hotel Muscat.

Eunice Fernando, the director of marketing and communications at Intercontinental Hotel Muscat, said that being the Sultanate’s oldest international hotel chain, there were plenty of fond memories for visitors to enjoy.

While visitors can get to experience cooler weather in the north of Oman, temperatures are still warmer in the country’s southern Dhofar Governorate, where tourists can experience warmer climates, making for an equally pleasant change from the cold weather in their home countries.
