The African Tourism Board is quite satisfied to declare the appointment of Dr. Walter Mzembi, Zimbabwean Consultant to the African Tourism Board (ATB). He will act as the member of the Board of Elders.

Lately, new board members have been joining the organization before the forthcoming soft launch of ATB scheduled on Monday, November 5, at 1400 hours during World Travel Market in London.

200 top tourism leaders, including ministers from various African nations, as well as Dr. Taleb Rifai, erstwhile UNWTO Secretary General, are planned to take part in the event at WTM.

Dr. Walter Mzembi (MP) has occupied different positions in public as well as private sectors in Zimbabwe and overseas. In February 2009, he was nominated as the Zimbabwe’s Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry.

He acted as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry. He was a Member of the House of Assembly for Masvingo South (ZANU-PF). He was replaced November 27, 2017 after the Government in Zimbabwe got changed and became a private citizen.

He was a previous member of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Executive Council, and at present he was the UNWTO Regional Commission for Africa Chairperson, comprising 54 African countries and their respective tourism ministers. Dr. Mzembi was elected to Zimbabwe Parliament in 2004.

He was consequently nominated as the Head of the Zimbabwe Delegation to the African-Caribbean and PacificEuropean Union (ACP-EU) Joint Parliamentary Assembly in Europe. In 2007, he was selected as the Deputy Minister of Water Resources and Management.
