VisitEngland: Historic properties show growth in visitors

In 2017 the historic properties in England showed major growth in visitor number and it was eight per cent up from 2016. Out of the 1,4000 English attractions surveyed it was found that historic properties like mills, monuments, boats and burial grounds saw major increase in visitors number.

Last year visits to farm attractions saw a growth of five percent than the previous year.There was four percent increase in historic houses and palaces along with visitor and heritage centres, places of worship last year.

Minister for arts, heritage and tourism, Michael Ellis mentioned that the world-class attraction is a major draw for both the UK and overseas visitors.

In 2017 the British Museum was the most visited free attraction in England for the tenth consecutive year having around six million visitors. Tate Modern stood second having more than five and a half million.

VisitEngland chief executive Sally Balcombe mentioned that it was great to see people getting out and exploring the huge variety of attractions and places of interest that the country offers.
