But the rising temperatures have already inflicted heavy losses on the richer South, which has reported more than three million deaths of livestock and a fivefold increase in deaths from heat-related illnesses, while vegetable prices have doubled due to supplies being affected.

Meanwhile, the Mediterranean countries have issued severe weather warnings as a heat wave pushed temperatures above 40 degree Celsius in Europe.

The heat and scorching waves from Africa is bringing the heat wave to Europe, prompting health warnings about Sahara Desert dust and exceptionally high temperatures that are forecast to peak at 48 degrees Celsius in some southern areas.
