Airbnb has opened the Office of Healthy Tourism to bring about an economic growth through local and sustainable tourism.

A Tourism Advisory Board comprising global travel industry leaders t will help oversee Airbnb’s long-term strategy around sustainable tourism which has been announced by the company.

Pointing out to new data Airbnb specified how the community has supported its health tourism efforts. It was found that 88% of hosts incorporate green practices into hosting with the use of environmental friendly cleaning products that has recycling properties and encourages guests to use public transport.

Living like a local for the main reason for 84 % of the guests to choose Airbnb while 66% preferred  green benefits of home-sharing.

Eighty-nine percent of the guests said they choose Airbnb due to the convenient property location than hotels while 53% are able to spend money saved with the use of the Airbnb locals in the neighbourhoods.

The best type of travel for destination, residents and travellers alike will be promoted by the Airbnb’s healthy tourism initiatives. This is worth investing as it will give a good position with the continuous competition.

This will foster goodwill among communities and will be an additional push by Airbnb to legitimize itself against the rivals.
