Two of Ireland’s leading chefs joined Tourism Ireland in New York to cook up a memorable St Patrick’s Day meal and to raise the profile of the Irish culinary scene.

Darina Allen of Ballymaloe Cookery School and Noel McMeel from the Lough Erne Resort delivered an Irish culinary masterclass to the guests, who included influential food and travel journalists and travel trade – helping to spread the word about the superb culinary experience on offer right around the island of Ireland.

Alison Metcalfe, Tourism Ireland’s Head of North America, said “We are delighted to be joined in New York by two such eminent ambassadors for Irish food who bring a message about the special and unique treats that await Americans on an Irish foodie vacation. From Michelin Star restaurants, to gastro pubs and farmers markets, we now have a culinary experience to rival the best in Europe.

“In 2017, we welcomed a record 1.8 million American visitors to the island of Ireland. Our fabulous culinary offering has now joined a long list of reasons why Americans should put Ireland on their vacation ‘wish-list’ for 2018. With more direct flights than ever before between the US and Ireland and a targeted and extensive programme of promotional activity, we look forward to further growth and continuing to work with our tourism industry partners to deliver a warm welcome and the vacation experience of a lifetime.”
