While claiming that there is no immediate impact on tourism sector from the declaration of State of Emergency.
The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) yesterday said it has backup plans for any tour plan disruptions after claiming that there is no immediate impact on tourism sector.
SLTDA Communication Consultant Rasika Jayakody stated that the tourists will not be harmed from the situation but there is a chance of their tour plans being interrupted.
He further mentioned that the SLTDA and the Tourist Police are equipped with backup plans in case of any disruptions to transport or any other issues occur.
SLTDA had special discussion with the relevant authorities to take necessary actions soon after the government declared a State of Emergency Jayakody said.
He further mentioned that the police confirmed that State of Emergency was declared only to facilitate police actions.
The Tourism Policy is closing monitoring the situation in Kandy, which is a popular tourist destination stated the authority.
There was no grave incident reported yesterday in the area creating a threat to the tourists.
The embassies and travel agents were informed by the SLDTA to give the right picture about the situation to the international community because it could have created unnecessary panic among the tourists.
For the tourist SLDTA hotline would remain open for information or to report and inconvenience.
