British Airways launches new seats with larger TV screens

British Airways has unveiled its fresh World Traveller Plus and World Traveller seats.

Customers flying from Gatwick would be capable of experiencing the fully refreshed Boeing 777 fleet and a new generation premium economy as well as economy seats.

These brand new cabins have been fitted with new seats with 50% larger entertainment screens that would be rolled out across BA’s fleet of 10 long-haul aircraft that was based at Gatwick.

By winter 2018, the six three-class Boeing 777 airplanes would be completed and the four four-class variations would be finished by summer 2019.

The first routes to enjoy the fully refreshed aircraft would be Punta Cana, Jamaica and Cancun prior to being gradually rolled out across all of the airline’s 22 long-haul routes from Gatwick.

In response to the demand of the travellers flyers would be able to witness a cocktail table at the front as well as in-arm tray tables.

These cabins have also been fitted with the freshest, most enhanced setting that would feature a six-way headrest with adjustable ears for additional comfort and moveable middle arm rests. The new in-flight Panasonic entertainment system that has the capacity to offer four times as many films, television and radio have been updated with bigger HD screens and gesture control to navigate the interface like utilizing a tablet.

The screen size would double from six to 12 inches in World Traveller Olus and rise from six to 10 inches in World Traveller.

Customers would also be able to charge a series of different electronic devices during their flight as each of the seats would offer USB rockets. The World Traveller Plus seats also possess an additional power outlet socket for US, UK and EU plugs.

Furthermore, bespoke lightning has been fitted in every cabin and can be set to portray the time of the day to help lull travellers to sleep at night and wake them up in the morning.

British Airways; director of network and alliances, Sean Doyle mentioned that they are one of the very few international airlines offering a choice of four cabins for customers to travel in and World Traveller Plus appeals to a combination of both corporate and leisure travellers.

These improvements are the latest in the airline’s continued investment for customers.

In January, British Airways had declared a multi-million-pound investment in its World Traveller that caters to the introduction of better quality food and snacking options in long-haul flights.

Over the last five years, the airline’s operation at Gatwick has witnessed 40% more customers travelling with passenger numbers rising from 4.4 million to 6.2 million.
