EC warns UK airlines of facing European grounding post Brexit

If no Brexit arrangements are made the British airlines’ flights to the European Union will be grounded according to the European Commission.

After March 30, 2019 the UK carriers will no  longer have the freedom of the airways after the Britain leaves the EU mentioned the European Commission in Brussels while sending  a  ’notice to operators’.

If no agreement is reached or they do not get any EU license by moving their head office to mainland Europe.

It mentions that the withdrawal date of the operating licenses granted to the airlines by the United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority will no longer be valid toEU operating licenses.

It was further specified that the air carriers were advised to take measures to ensure that the conditions for holding an EU operating license were compiled.

The air traffic rights might cease and the preparation for the withdrawal was not only restricted to the Union and national authorities but it was also applicable to the private parties.

Airlines UK said the notice was issued to other sectors and not just air transport. It further added it is always better to settle out the legal position and EC’s stance of heading to stage two of the discussion later this week implies that they agree to move on from stage one.
