India likely to welcome Hyperloop travel technology

The latest country to board the grand bandwagon of Hyperloop is India.

India’s south-eastern state Andhra Pradesh is about to sign a deal with startup Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT) aiming to develop a high-speed transport route between two of its important cities.

Hyperloop Transportation Technologies is one of the startups exclusively associated with the futuristic transportation concept of Elon Musk.

Once fully realized, this system would witness passengers and cargo flunt through near-vacuum tubes around the speed of sound! This would be made possible thanks to some specially designed capsules that would minimize the travel time between San Francisco and Los Angeles to just 30 minutes.

Among its competitors, are the freshly formed HyperloopOne and Arrivo, the latter of which has already been a spectator to feasibility studies in many nations including Dubai, Finland and Russia.

 

Now, Hyperloop is spreading its wings, and thinking about putting its best foot forward in India.

An agreement has been signed between the government of Andhra Pradesh and HTT that seeks to connect the city centres of Vijayawada and Amaravati. It would take around an hour to travel between via car but would take merely six minutes by Hyperloop. HTT is scheduled to commence a six-month feasibility study in October 2017, investigating the landscapes of the cities to detect the ideal routes for its transportation tubes.

If everything goes well, construction is slated to kick start thereafter.

Nara Lokesh who is the Cabinet Minister for Information Technology, Panchayati Raj and Rural Development for the State of Andhra Pradesh, asserted that HTT’s transport system would go a long way in enhancing the IT infrastructure and ecosystem of this Indian state to a great extent.
