To give the rich flavour in heritage tourism to the tourists, the Ağrı museum will enlighten itself with the history and the evolution of Ağrı province, eastern part of Turkey which is bordering Iran to the east and Kars to the north.

Ahmed-i Hani City Museum and the refurbishing of the Old Doğubayazıt House, projecting more than 3000 years of long history of Turkey, are named after a district in the Ağrı province.

Ahmed-i Hani City Museum is constructed by the district governorship near the İshak Pasha Palace, overlooking Ağrı Mountain, Bayezid Mosque and Urartu Fortress, Ahmed-i Hani City Museum and Old Doğubayazıt House which are the major tourism destinations.

The museum has a vast collection of the essential elements which are related with the life of Ahmed-i Hani, who penned many literary works including “Mem-u Zin” (Mem and Zin) and “Nubihara Biçukan” in the Kurdish Kurmanci dialect. He was a philosopher and historian as well as a Sufi who gave religious classes at the İshak Pasha Palace’s Mosque.

  

In this museum lies the “Nubihara Biçukan” section, which means “the spring of the youth”, which has three parts presenting the statues of the students educated by the Islamic scholars.

“Pillars of Faith”- the second phase deals with the works, life and the introductory information of Ahmed-i Hani.

The antique, traditional and cultural treasures will get new lives in the two-story adobe Old Doğubayazıt House.

This museum displays the information in relation to traditional clothes, meals, tandooris, henna nights and the dengbej divan (group singers), along with objects used in every day village life.

  

The District Governor Ulaş Akhan told Anadolu Agency (AA) the buildings around Ishak Pasha Palace went into construction three years ago.

Ahmed-i Hani City Museum and Old Doğubayazıt House will be renovated by the support of Serhat Development Agency and the Special Provincial Administration. The government wants to persuade the tourists to stay longer through the Ahmed-i Hani City Museum, the Old Doğubayazıt House, the old government office, which is currently under restoration, and the Beyazıt Madrasah.
