Sabre names Joe DiFonzo as Chief Information Officer

SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS - Sabre Corp. announced that it has named Joe DiFonzo as Chief Information Officer (CIO), effective July 10.

As CIO, DiFonzo will have responsibility for Sabre's enterprise technology organization, as well as corporate information technology, and risk and security functions. He will also be tasked with building the next generation of tools and processes as Sabre continues to invest in enhancements to its technology infrastructure that supports airlines, hotels, travel agencies and corporate customers across the globe.

"We are in the midst of a multi-year initiative to enhance our technology capabilities, continue our drive to scale our infrastructure to support greater efficiency, and power the growth of both Sabre and our travel industry partners. Joe has experience at leading technology transformation and shares my commitment to exceed expectations as we work to provide impeccable reliability and security for our customers," said Sean Menke, Sabre's president and CEO.

DiFonzo brings to Sabre a nearly 30-year career in technology leadership, including most recently, eight years at Syniverse, a global provider of communication and information services for network operators, where during his tenure he served as both chief technology officer and CIO. He previously spent 20 years at Convergys/Cincinnati Bell Information Systems, leading architecture and product development teams, among other assignments. He holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Central Florida.

"The travel industry's reliance on technology will only grow and Sabre sits in the middle of an ecosystem that can only add more and more value to its customers," said DiFonzo. "The Sabre team has a strong reputation and I look forward to leading a core function of its operations that is critical to its customers.
