Destination wedding industry professionals will convene in Los Cabos, Mexico next year for the 5th Annual Destination Wedding Planners Congress. Los Cabos Tourism Board along with the Mexico Tourism Board has successfully won the bid to host this one of its kind international congress for the high spending and extremely lucrative destination wedding market.

The Congress will bring together over 600 of the wedding world’s elite from more than 65 countries to Mexico – including celebrity wedding planners, royalty wedding specialists and destination wedding experts to meet with global creative partners and wedding suppliers – from tourism boards and convention centers to exquisite hotels, palaces and chateaus, top notch destination wedding photographers, high end couture designers, best in the business DMCs and EMCs, luxury brands, exclusive jewelers, global airlines, entertainment and production companies, and many more.

Baja California Sur Secretary of Tourism, Luis Genaro Ruiz Hernández, said: “We are very excited to host the renowned DWP Congress and to have won the bid for the 2018 edition. Los Cabos has plenty to offer the world’s luxury wedding segment, from its turquoise waters of the Sea of Cortez to its natural beauty, elevated amenities, remarkable beachfront settings, great service, luxurious accommodations and wide range of wedding venues, making Los Cabos a breath-taking backdrop for a luxury destination wedding. 350,000 couples around the world tie the knot overseas every year, and according to recent stats, 9% of these were hosted in Mexico. In the last five years’ destination weddings have increased by 50%, in Mexico.

Thanks to its stunning venues, connectivity to the US and competitive packages, weddings in Mexico are gaining popularity with the average cost per person ranging between $1,000 and $3,000, inclusive of transportation, accommodation and experiences.

The Destination Wedding Planners Congress will take place from April 10 – 12 2018, in Los Cabos, Mexico.
